Mania or Manic Lovers

I think we all know that one person that gets into relationships simply because they can't be by themselves. They feel they need someone to validate them and make them feel good about themselves. This is symptomatic of a manic lover. These people have low self esteem and feel they have no self worth unless someone tells them what their worth is. But no matter how much you reassure them, it will never be enough. They also tend to be jealous and possessive; they view their partners objects they possess and marriage is a tool of permanent ownership. Whereas children may be viewed as competition or substitution: if the spouse gives the children a lot of attention, this lover will compete with the kids for time and affection. If the spouse, is inattentive in general, manics will climb to children in order to compensate for what is not being given in the relationship.
